August 2024 Cosmetology Program
TABE testing will begin May 1, 2024 for our August 2024 Cosmetology program.
ACT has funding available to allow WV residents to obtain a new career for FREE. When you start class between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025. This includes tuition, fees and books. This funding is available to all WV residents who complete their *FAFSA and the HEAPS application.

The first step in the enrollment process is to request a free TABE exam:

After you fill out the TABE link you should receive an email with test information. If you do not receive an email within a few days check your junk folder. Many students say this email goes to their junk folder for some reason.

Interviews will be held the week of June 3, 2024 so candidates will need to test in May 2024 to be eligible to apply.

ACT Service Personnel of the Year Honored
Steve Simmerman was honored at the Raleigh County Service Personnel of the Year Banquet held on April 18, 2024. Mr. Simmerman was also a Raleigh County finalist.
Mr. Simmerman takes excellent care of our building and our staff. We are very blessed to have him on our ACT team!
ACT Teacher of the Year Honored
Lauren Adkins was honored at the Raleigh County Teacher of the Year Banquet held on April 11, 2024.
Mrs. Adkins is our Computer Aided Drafting and Design and Pre-Engineering instructor. We are very blessed to have her on our staff.
National Technical Honor Society Induction Held
ACT held the annual induction of 90 new members on April 9, 2024 at 5:30 pm. The ceremony has held at Faith Community Church.
The criteria to be a member was a 3.5 GPA, no more than 5 absences a semester, and a recommendation from their CTE instructor.
We are very proud of all these students!

The Academy of Careers and Technology had 123 students compete in the 2024 SkillsUSA WV competition at Fairmont University on March 22-23.
